COUNSELING

our THERAPEUTIC APPROACH BEGINS THROUGH SEEING EACH PERSON AS WHOLE

and NOT THROUGH THE LENS OF A DIAGNOSIS

“The journey of self discovery is the most beautiful of all journeys.

The landscape of the inner being is more vast than the night sky. And for those who brave the journey, stepping in and through without any knowing of what it will entail, assumes the most incredible soul within the vessel of the body.”

Excerpt written by laurel for a client during their ketamine session

Laurel uses an integrative and holistic approach in working with clients. She provides both traditional counseling approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and psychodrama, as well as somatic and body-based interventions. These include but are not limited to somatic embodiment, mindful meditation, AcuWellness (5-point ear acupuncture), sound therapy (32in gong, sound bowls), expressive arts, and Breathwork as she supports her clients' journey through trauma recovery and back to a life of wholeness.

Laurel’s Area of Expertise Includes Supporting Women With:

  • Eating disorder recovery

  • Divorce and relationship recovery

  • Early religious trauma

  • Gender and body-based discrimination

  • Sexual trauma recovery

  • Emotional, mental, and spiritual health challenges faced by women in today's world

  • Search for meaning and purpose after transition (death of loved one, college, empty nest, job change, etc)

  • PTSD, Anxiety and Depression

  • Nervous system regulation

Laurel approaches mental health challenges such as, but not limited to depression or anxiety, as a byproduct of the world we live in and not as a reflection of the core of the human she is working with. She practices from a bio-psycho-social model and believes in a framework of collaboration, steering clear of the dynamic of 'treatment' or seeing her clients through the lens of a diagnosis.

“The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not “the thinker.” The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated."
